Do I need a visa to travel to Rwanda?
The visa requirements to Rwanda vary depending on where you come from and where you are going. But most countries like Rwanda expect that you will have at least a valid passport for six 6 months upfront. The visa to Rwanda costs approx US$60 payable on the border with the exception of USA, Germany, South Africa, Kenya, Great Britain, Sweden, Singapore, nationals where the visa is free of charge.
Are credit cards accepted widely in Rwanda?
Credit cards are usually accepted by large hotels and western-style restaurants but not by smaller vendors. Ensure you have adequate cash to cover purchases not able to be made on credit.
Can I use my mobile/cell phone while in Rwanda?
Mobile phone coverage is good around Rwanda’s larger towns, but less so in rural and mountainous areas. Ensure you have global roaming activated before setting off if you wish to use your mobile phone.
How’s the drive from Airport to Gorilla Park? How are the roads?
Driving in Rwanda is very tame, the road is pretty good from Kigali to Ruhengeri connecting to Kinigi, a few potholes but nothing much to trouble you. It is a mountainous road and the views are spectacular. Out of the towns there is not much traffic, mostly buses and lorries on Road.

When is the best time to visit Rwanda?

Internet access has recently improved in Rwanda. Travelers are able to access the internet in large cities like Kigali but expect limited to no access in regional and rural areas.
How is the security like in Kigali?
It is always confusing to think about security and safety in a city you have never been to in Africa! Kigali is a relatively very peaceful and secure but it is good for your own safety to keep alert. Most crimes around town are petty but don’t take so much risk alone – where possible always ask for help from your guide as he/she will be well versed with the security situation always.
