7 Days Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari
7 days Rwanda safari featuring gorilla and chimpanzee tracking tour setting off from Volcanoes National park in Rwanda where you will track the gorillas and golden monkeys, Queen Elizabeth National park in Uganda for wildlife game drive and then to Kibale Forest national park for chimpanzee tracking.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes NP.
The tour guide / driver shall pick you from the airport on arrival and drive north of Rwanda to Parc National des Volcans, viewing remarkable scenery of the Virunga Mountains en route. Dinner and overnight stay at Muhabura Hotel/Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge/Mountain gorilla View Lodge.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla tracking and cultural walk.
This is the day for gorilla tracking adventure. Assemble at the park headquarters for a briefing in the morning together with your trekking gear and drinking water and ascend in the forest to track the gorillas. In the evening, you may go for cultural walk to Iby’wachu or nature walk to the twin lakes Bulera and Ruhondo. Dinner and overnight stay (Day 1).
Day 3: Golden Monkey tracking and transfer to Bwindi NP.
In the morning, you will go for golden monkey tracking where you will enjoy them play in the forest in search of food. On return, you will setoff to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park – Uganda in Ruhiija sector. Dinner and overnight at Bakiga Lodge/Ruhiija Lodge/Gorilla Mist camp.
Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Set off in the morning to Q.E.N.P passing via Ishasha sector where you will have game drives to see the tree-climbing lions. Proceed to Queen Elizabeth NP reaching later in the afternoon. Proceed to kazinga channel for afternoon boat cruise, which will reward you with game as hippos, crocodiles as well as a variety of bird species. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge/Kyambura game Lodge/Enganzi Lodge.
Day 5:Game drive and transfer to Kibale National park.
Have an early breakfast and go for game drive along the Kasenyi sector. You will see game as bush bucks, buffalos, possibly lion, leopard among others. On return, drive to Kibale Forest and relax the whole afternoon or you may go for nature walk if time allows. Dinner and overnight stay Chimpanzee guest House/Primate Lodge Kibale/Crater Safari Lodge.
Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking and nature walk.
In the morning, you will go for chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest NP, a home to more than 13 primate species. You will encounter other primates like Colobus Monkeys Giant forest hog, Vervet, red-tailed monkeys, the Grey Cheeked Mangabeys, Olive Baboons, and over 350 bird species. In the afternoon, you will go for nature walk to Bigodi wetland sanctuary. Dinner and overnight stay(day 5)
Day 7: Transfer to Kigali/Entebbe and departure.
In the morning after your relaxed breakfast, you will drive back to Kigali, reaching early in the evening and transfer to the airport to check in for your departure flight. Or you may drive to Kampala and depart through Entebbe airport.
