4 Days Rwanda Gorilla Tour and Lake Kivu
4 days Rwanda gorilla tour that starts and ends in Kigali will take you to Volcanoes National Park to see the gorillas and the golden monkeys, as well as visit Lake Kivu.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National park
You will be picked by your driver/guide at the Airport upon arrival or hotel in Kigali and have a short briefing with the guide. Time allowing, go for optional Kigali city tour before heading northwards to Volcanoes national park. The journey from Kigali to Volcanoes National park will reward you with scenic views of beautiful terraced hillsides that characterize much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. Dinner and overnight at Mountain gorilla view lodge/ Le Bambou gorilla lodge/ Muhabura Hotel.
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in Parc National Des Volcans
Your trek group shall gather at 7am for briefing from the ranger guides at the park headquarters and thereafter confront the thick bamboo bush for to find the gorillas. The ranger guides are well versed with the movements of gorillas and their common tracks, if lucky you get to see the gorillas pretty soon; take shots, watch them feed and play for 1 hour and get back to the lodge. Some gorilla families however are far and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is wet and muddy. In the evening, you may go for cultural walk to Iby’wachu. Dinner and overnight stay(Day 1).
Day 3: Golden Monkeys Tracking and transfer to Lake Kivu
In the morning, you will gather at the park headquarters for briefing before going for golden monkey tracking. The golden monkeys are a rare monkey specie endemic to Virunga Mountain ranges. These monkeys move in large groups and its attractive to see them eat and play in a very noisy manner, some visitors have called this their true wildlife experience amongst mother nature. On return, transfer to lake Kivu in Gisenyi reaching early for optional boat cruise up to the hot springs. Dinner and overnight at Paradise Malahide/Kivu Serena Hotel.
Day 4: Coffee experience and return to Kigali
In the morning, you may go for coffee experience dubbed “from crop to cup” or relax at your hotel. You will then drive back to Kigali and if time allows for the city tour including a visit to the market, a pottery project, handicraft shops and the genocide memorial. Transfer to the airport for your flight back home depending on your schedule.
