15 Days Gorilla Trek in Uganda Rwanda
The 15 days Uganda Rwanda safari can start from Kigali Rwanda and end in Entebbe-Uganda, covering the major tourist destination centers in Rwanda and Uganda.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National park and afternoon boat cruise.
In the morning, you will set off a scenic drive to Akagera national park, reaching early for lunch. After lunch, go for afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema, where you will be rewarded with view of game as hippos, crocodiles, as well as a variety of bird species. Dinner and overnight at Rusizi tented Lodge/Akagera Game Lodge.
Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer back to Kigali.
Early morning, you will go for game drives up to the northern part of the park to catch up with early raisers before they go into hiding. You will have chance to see, antelopes, giraffes, Elephants, Buffalos, Zebras, Impalas, bush bucks among others. You will then exit the park and proceed back to Kigali with Lunch enroute, reaching early in the afternoon to do a city tour, Visit the genocide memorial, local markets. Dinner and overnight at Five to Five Hotel/Flame Tree Village/Kigali Serena Hotel.
Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest NP.
In the morning, you will set off a long drive to Nyungwe National park. You will have en route stopover in Nyanza museum, Butare museum, Murambi genocide memorial among other areas good for more information about Rwanda’s history and adventure. Reach Nyungwe in the evening for dinner and overnight at Nyungwe top View Lodge/Gisakura Hotel/Nyungwe Forest Lodge.
Day 4: Nature walk and afternoon canopy walk.
In the morning, you will go nature walk trail up to the waterfalls, where you will view variety of bird species as well as monkeys along the trail. In the afternoon, go for the breathtaking forest canopy walk, where you will view the entire Nyungwe Forest top view as well as birds among others. Dinner and overnight stay.(Day 3)
Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes National park.
In the morning, you will set off a scenic long drive northwards to Volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri, a home to 360 Mountain Gorillas with en route stopover for lunch and photography. You will reach Volcanoes in the evening for dinner and overnight at Mountain gorilla View Lodge/Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge/Muhabura Hotel.
Day 6: 1st Gorilla Tracking and cultural walk.
In the morning at 7:30am, you will assemble at the park headquarters for a briefing in the morning together with your trekking gear and drinking water and packed lunch. Later ascend in the forest to track the gorillas, an activity that will take you 2-8 hours depending on the movement of the apes in their natural wild. After meeting and staying in the presence of the gorillas for a maximum of one hour, descend back to your hotel for relaxation. In the evening, you may go for nature walk or visit the Banyarwanda community. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Golden Monkey tracking and transfer to Bwindi NP.
In the morning, you will gather at the park headquarters for briefing, and later go for golden monkey tracking. On return, you will cross over to Uganda and drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park, home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Mist camp/Bakiga Lodge/Ruhiija Lodge.
Day 8: Second gorilla tracking and cultural walk.
In the morning, assemble at the park headquarters for briefing from the park rangers about the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas. Proceed for the memorable adventure in the forest, an activity that may take 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the animals. Meet and stay with the animals for a maximum of one hour, then descend to the park headquarters and then to your Lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the evening, you may go for cultural walk to the Batwa community. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 9: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
In the morning, you will set off to QENP passing via Ishasha sector where you will have game drives to view tree climbing lions, variety of bird species. Reach the park early enough for lunch. In the afternoon, gather at the Kazinga channel for a boat cruise along the channel where you will be rewarded with view of game as Hippos, crocodiles, buffalos, elephants as well as a variety of birds. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Kyambura Game Lodge/Buffalo safari Lodge.
Day 10: Game drive and Transfer to Kibale NP.
Early morning, you will wake up to go for game drives to catch up with early risers before returning to their hiding places. You will encounter game as lions, hyenas, bush bucks, elephants among others. In the afternoon, you will transfer to Kibale NP, home of 13 primate species. Dinner and overnight at Kibale Primates Lodge/Chimpanzee guest House/Ndali Lodge.
Day 11: Chimpanzee tracking and afternoon nature walk.
Have an early morning breakfast and drive to the park headquarters for the chimpanzee briefing by the forest guide. You will locate the chimps by listening for their pant-hooting calls, then hustle to the area from which they are calling. You will see more other primates such as the red colobus, black and white colobus and the red-tailed monkey. After lunch, go for nature walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary. Dinner and overnight.
Day 12: Transfer to Murchison Falls NP
In the morning after breakfast, you will set off to Murchison Falls National park via Masindi reaching late in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/kabalega Wilderness Camp/Red chilli Hotel/Pakuba Lodge.
Day 13: Game drive and boat cruise.
In the morning, you will go for game drive up to the northern part of the park where you will see game as lion, elephants, buffalos, giraffes, bush bucks among others. Return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, go for boat cruise up to the bottom of the falls, which will reward you with view of game as hippos, crocodiles, lots of bird species among others. Dinner and overnight (Day 12).
Day 14: Murchison Falls NP to Kampala.
In the morning, set off to Kampala with en route visit to the top of the falls where you will enjoy the scenic view of the mighty Nile forcing itself through a narrow gorge. You will also visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongora, for rhino tracking. Proceed to Kampala, reaching in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Cassia Lodge/Ivy’s Hotel/Serena Hotel/Le Petit Village/Humura Lodge.
Day 15: Kampala city tour and departure.
In the morning, you will go for Kampala city tour. Visit Namugongo Catholic shrine, Uganda Museum, Bahai temple among others. You will then transfer to Entebbe airport and check in for your departure flight if on schedule.
