5 Days Twice Gorilla Trekking
The 5 days gorilla safari in Rwanda and Uganda with double gorilla trekking, one in Volcanoes National Park- Rwanda and another in Bwindi impenetrable Forest National Park – Uganda respectively. The tour will start and end in Kigali-Rwanda.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1 : Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On arrival at Kigali Airport, you will be received by your guide/driver and transfer northwards to Volcanoes National park in Musanze. This two hour drive will reward you with scenic views of the escarpments and virunga mountain ranges. Dinner and overnight at Muhabura Hotel/Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge/Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.
Day 2 : 1st Gorilla trekking and cultural walk
After early breakfast you will gather at the park headquarters at 7am for briefing about the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas. You will then head to the forest for gorilla trekking entering the forest at 8:30am. The search will take 1-8 hours depending on the gorilla movements and the group allocated. You will be allowed a maximum of one hour with the gorillas once you encounter them. Descend back to the lodge for refreshment and in the evening, you may go for cultural walk to Iby’wachu where you will learn more about the Banyarwanda tradition. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Golden monkey tracking and Cross Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park – Uganda
After an early breakfast, you will gather at the park headquarters for briefing about the dos and don’ts while with the golden monkeys. You will then head to the forest to track these rare monkey species endemic to Virunga mountain ranges only and enjoy them play in the forest in search of food. On return, you will have lunch and depart for Bwindi NP – Uganda crossing via Cyanika border. Bwindi impenetrable Forest National Park is located in the south west of Uganda and is a home to half of the remaining world’s mountain gorillas. Dinner and overnight at Bakiga Lodge/Gorilla Mist camp/Ruhiija Lodge.
Day 4: 2nd Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest
After an early breakfast, report for briefing at the park headquarters. You will then be allocated a gorilla group where you will be grouped in a maximum number of eight people. Enter the forest at 8:30am in search of these amazing apes. After an hour in presence of the gorillas, you will descend back to the lodge for refreshment. In the evening, you may go for cultural walk to the neighbouring community and Batwa people. Dinner and overnight stay(Day 3).
Day 5: Transfer back to Kigali
After a relaxed breakfast, you will set off back to Kigali crossing via Katuna border with scenic view of Lake Bunyonyi and other escarpments. You will reach Kigali early for last minute shopping and brief city tour before transferring to the airport to check in for your departure flight if on schedule.
